Der Düsseldorfer Gitarrist und Komponist Philipp Wisser legt ein Album vor, das zeitgenössischen Jazz in eine klare, reduzierte Ästhetik überführt. Ausgangspunkt ist keine theoretische Idee, sondern eine Erfahrung: die Schönheit des Einfachen – des Moments, der unmittelbar wirkt.
Über mehr als zwei Jahre formte Wisser gemeinsam mit Christoph Klenner, Conrad Noll und Daniel Guerrero ein Repertoire, das gleichermaßen reflektiert und energetisch klingt. Die Band arbeitete abseits klassischer Produktionslogiken: Sie ließ die Musik wachsen, hörte in sie hinein, verwarf, formte neu. Aufgenommen wurde schließlich live und ohne Overdubs – ein bewusstes Sich-Einlassen und ein ehrliches Porträt eines Quartetts, das im Titelstück durch Vincent Pinn am Flügelhorn eine prägende zusätzliche Stimme enthält.
Die Kompositionen verbinden moderne Grooves, lyrische Linien und offene Räume für Improvisation. Sie zeigen eine Band, die auch auf der Bühne strukturelle Klarheit mit risikofreudigem Zusammenspiel verbindet und einen fokussierten, eigenständigen Sound entwickelt hat. Hier trifft Präzision auf Risiko, Tradition auf Gegenwart.

Philipp Wisser hat Jazzgitarre, Komposition und Tontechnik an der Folkwang Universität der Künste, am Institut für Musik und Medien in Düsseldorf und mit Stipendium am Berklee College of Music in Boston studiert. Philipp ist ein äußerst vielseitiger Künstler, der bereits Musik für große Ensembles wie Bigband und Symphonieorchester geschrieben und arrangiert hat. Als Gitarrist, Komponist und Bandleader veröffentlichte er sein Debütalbum Just a Glimpse im Jahr 2021 bei JazzSick Records. Das Album, das von vielen Kritikern gelobt wurde, hinterlässt seine erste Spur auf der nationalen Bühne und repräsentiert eine verspielte und dynamische Band.


Die Konzerte im LOFT beginnen in der Regel gegen 20 Uhr - das LOFT öffnet jeweils um 19.30 Uhr.
Ausnahmen in der Winterzeit - zB an Sonntagen - sind möglich.

With 5th Dimension, Philipp Wissers Quartet presents contemporary jazz that is lively, clear in its aesthetics, and open in its interplay.

Düsseldorf-based guitarist and composer Philipp Wisser presents an album that translates contemporary jazz into a clear, minimalist aesthetic. The starting point is not a theoretical idea, but an experience: the beauty of simplicity—of the moment that has an immediate effect.
Over more than two years, Wisser worked with Christoph Klenner, Conrad Noll, and Daniel Guerrero to create a repertoire that sounds both reflective and energetic. The band worked outside of classical production logic: they let the music grow, listened to it, discarded it, reshaped it. It was finally recorded live and without overdubs – a conscious commitment and an honest portrait of a quartet that includes a distinctive additional voice in the title track by Vincent Pinn on the flugelhorn.
The compositions combine modern grooves, lyrical lines, and open spaces for improvisation. They showcase a band that also combines structural clarity with risk-taking interplay on stage and has developed a focused, independent sound. Here, precision meets risk, tradition meets the present.

Philipp Wisser studied jazz guitar, composition, and sound engineering at the Folkwang University of the Arts, the Institute for Music and Media in Düsseldorf, and, with a scholarship, at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Philipp is an extremely versatile artist who has already written and arranged music for large ensembles such as big bands and symphony orchestras. As a guitarist, composer, and bandleader, he released his debut album Just a Glimpse in 2021 on JazzSick Records. The album, which has been praised by many critics, leaves his first mark on the national stage and represents a playful and dynamic band.



The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
