Thomas Nečemer & Dirk Schilling DUO

Wo Partisanen und Kärntner Bergbauern Blut sich mit norddeutscher Seemanns Herkunft vermischen, entsteht etwas Ur-kraftvolles, etwas tief in der Natur verwurzeltes, aber auch etwas was wagemutig und kühn hinaus in die Welt zieht.

Thomas Nečemer und Dirk Schilling bilden dieses ungewöhnliche Duo aus Jazz Akkordeon und der modernen Soundwelt eines E-Gitarristen.
Die Musik: Ambient, minimal, meditativ. Oft kaum zuzuordnen wer der Beiden gerade welche Sounds erzeugt, verweben sie Cluster, Sounds und Loops zu melodischen Themen und vereinen so Meer, Himmel, Wald und Bergwelten vom Ende der Welt.

Beide Meister ihres Fachs und doch zurückhaltend in ihrer Spielweise, wandeln sie auf wunderbar frischen Wegen zwischen Instant Composing und Improvisation und machen sich so zu einem unverwechselbaren Bestandteil einer eigenständigen europäischen Jazztradition.

Thomas Nečemer ist tief verwurzelt in der reichhaltigen Kärntner – Slowenischen Musiktradition und war schon in jungen Jahren zweifacher Europameister mit der steierischen Harmonika, bevor er sein Jazz Studium am Wiener Konservatorium aufnahm und mit Auszeichnung abschloss.
Im Anschluss daran war er Teil der Wiener und Kärntner Jazzszene und arbeitete dabei in einer breiten Spannweite, die von Kompositionen für „A Gschicht über d´LIEB“ (inklusive bayrischem Filmpreis und dem Thomas Strittmayer Preis der Berlinale) bis zum Weltmusik Ensemble La Claneta reicht.

Dirk Schilling lebte und arbeitete viele Jahre in Köln und wandelte dort zwischen Elektronik, Jazz und Rock. Filmpalast, Motorsheep, Bandaloop, Hoelderlin, Humming Lights sind da nur einige Stationen. Die Bandbreite seiner zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen reicht dabei von Universal Music bis Kompakt. Ergänzt man dies durch seine aktuellen Kompositions-Arbeiten für Film, Theater und Tanz, ergibt sich das Bild eines umtriebigen künstlerischen Freigeistes par excellence.

Where partisans and Carinthian mountain farmers' blood mingle with North German sailors' origins, something primal and powerful emerges, something deeply rooted in nature, but also something that daringly and boldly moves out into the world.

Thomas Nečemer and Dirk Schilling form this unusual duo of jazz accordion and the modern sound world of an electric guitarist.
The music: ambient, minimal, meditative. It is often hard to tell which of the two is producing which sounds, but they weave clusters, sounds and loops into melodic themes, combining sea, sky, forest and mountain worlds from the end of the world.

Both masters of their craft and yet restrained in their playing style, they walk wonderfully fresh paths between instant composing and improvisation, making themselves an unmistakable part of an independent European jazz tradition.

Thomas Nečemer is deeply rooted in the rich Carinthian-Slovenian musical tradition and was already a two-time European champion with the Styrian harmonica at a young age before he began his jazz studies at the Vienna Conservatory and graduated with honors.
Following this, he was part of the Viennese and Carinthian jazz scene and worked in a wide range of fields, from compositions for “A Gschicht über d'LIEB” (including the Bavarian Film Award and the Thomas Strittmayer Prize at the Berlinale) to the world music ensemble La Claneta.

Dirk Schilling lived and worked in Cologne for many years, moving between electronic, jazz and rock. Filmpalast, Motorsheep, Bandaloop, Hoelderlin, Humming Lights are just a few of his stations. The spectrum of his numerous releases ranges from Universal Music to Kompakt. Add to this his current compositional work for film, theater and dance, and the result is a picture of a bustling artistic free spirit par excellence.
