„Eine neue Hoffnung des deutschen Jazz “, erkannte MDR Kultur, was der Deutschlandfunk noch steigerte: „eine Band, die abheben wird wie eine Rakete.“ Der amerikanische Downbeat hörte „Spannung und Begeisterung“ in Vincent Meissners von seinem Mentor Michael Wollny produzierten Debütalbum “Bewegtes Feld“ aus dem Jahr 2021.
Alles begann 2017, als Henri (2002) und Vincent (2000) sich in der Musikschule in Dresden trafen, um zu jammen und gemeinsam zu musizieren. Zwei Jahre später, im Jahr 2019, stieß Josef (1998) zur Band. Heute studieren Henri und Vincent Musik in Leipzig, und Josef, der gerade seinen Master in Basel abgeschlossen hat, ist nach Paris gezogen.
In ihrer Musik geht es darum, Eindrücke der Gegenwart jenseits von Worten zu vermitteln und emotionale Erfahrungen hervorzurufen, die über den greifbaren Moment hinausgehen – auf eine völlig natürliche Weise. Neben zahlreichen Auszeichnungen, wie dem „Förderpreis der Deutschen Jazzunion“ (2019), dem „Mitteldeutschen Deutschen Jazzpreis“ (2020), dem 1. Platz beim „Jungen Münchner Jazzpreis“ (2021) oder dem 1. Platz beim „Internationalen Biberacher Jazzpreis“ (2022), hat die Band im Jahr 2023 ihr hochgelobtes zweites Album „Wille“ beim renommierten Label ACT veröffentlicht.

In den letzten Jahren hat das Vincent Meissner Trio außerdem in bedeutenden Clubs, auf Events und Festivals in ganz Europa gespielt, darunter Highlights wie das „Angrajazz Festival Azoren 2021“, die „Jazzopen Stuttgart 2022“, das „Getxo Jazzfest 2023“ oder das „Off-Beat Basel 2024“. Das US-amerikanische Magazin „Something Else!“ schreibt über ihr 2. Studioalbum Album „Wille“: „In der Nachfolge des Esbjörn Svensson Trios und The Bad Plus verleiht das Vincent Meissner Trio dem alten Klaviertrio-Format eine jugendliche Frische. Offensichtlich ist es ein Ensemble, das auch im Einklang mit neueren Strömungen der zeitgenössischen Musik steht, wie etwa bei Louis Cole. Und das Zusammenspiel der drei ist bemerkenswert.“ Als logische Fortsetzung dessen, erschien im Juli 2025 ihre brandneue Platte Eigengrau, ebenfalls bei ACT.

Felix Hauptmann ist Pianist und Komponist im Bereich Jazz und Improvisierte Musik und lebt in Köln. 2020 gründet er das Trio PERCUSSION (mit Roger Kintopf und Leif Berger), welches in den kommenden Jahren den Mittelpunkt seines künstlerischen Schaffens bildet. Seit dem ersten Konzert des Ensembles im Dezember 2020 sind vier Alben bei Boomslang Records erschienen, PERCUSSION spielte u.a. beim BEZAU BEATZ Festival sowie zahlreichen Konzerten in Deutschland, Österreich und Portugal. Im Jahr 2022 erhielt Felix Hauptmann den Jazzpreis der Stadt Köln (Horst und Gretl Will Stipendium) und gestaltete einen Konzertabend im Rahmen der Cologne Jazzweek im Saal des Stadtgartens in Köln.
Von April bis Juni 2024 war er Artist in Residence in der Villa Waldberta in Feldafing (Artist In Residence Munich), einem Programm der Stadt München. In dieser Zeit entstand das neue Ensemble SERPENTINE (mit Jorik Bergman, Fabian Dudek, Evi Filippou, Ursula Wienken und Leif Berger), die Uraufführung fand im renommierten Schwerer Reiter in München statt.
Seine neueste Veröffentlichung „KARJA HAUPTMANN DUO – Underwater Consciousness“ mit der estnischen Pianistin Kirke Karja (Boomslang Records) wurde zum Album des Monats gewählt (Oktober 25, Jazzpodium).
Seit September 2024 ist Felix Hauptmann Teil des NICA artist development Programms, angesiedelt am Europäischen Zentrum für Jazz und aktuelle Musik, Stadtgarten Köln.
Seit 2025 ist Hauptmann Lehrbeauftragter für Jazz-Klavier an der Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken.

“A new hope for German jazz,” recognized MDR Kultur, which Deutschlandfunk further emphasized: “a band that will take off like a rocket.” The American Downbeat heard “excitement and enthusiasm” in Vincent Meissner’s debut album “Bewegtes Feld” from 2021, produced by his mentor Michael Wollny.

It all began in 2017 when Henri (born in 2002) and Vincent (born in 2000) met at the music school in Dresden to jam and make music together. Two years later, in 2019, Josef (born in 1998) joined the band. Today, Henri and Vincent are studying music in Leipzig, and Josef, who has just completed his master’s degree in Basel, has moved to Paris.
Their music is about conveying impressions of the present beyond words and evoking emotional experiences that transcend the tangible moment – in a completely natural way. In addition to numerous awards, such as the “Förderpreis der Deutschen Jazzunion” (2019), the “Central German Jazz Prize” (2020), first place in the “Young Munich Jazz Prize” (2021), and first place in the “International Biberach Jazz Prize” (2022), the band released their highly acclaimed second album, “Wille,” on the renowned ACT label in 2023.
In recent years, the Vincent Meissner Trio has also played at major clubs, events, and festivals throughout Europe, including highlights such as the “Angrajazz Festival Azores 2021,” the “Jazzopen Stuttgart 2022,” the “Getxo Jazzfest 2023,” and the “Off-Beat Basel 2024.” The US magazine “Something Else!” writes about their second studio album ‘Wille’: „Following in the footsteps of the Esbjörn Svensson Trio and The Bad Plus, the Vincent Meissner Trio brings a youthful freshness to the old piano trio format. Felix Hauptmann is a pianist and composer in the field of jazz and improvised music and lives in Cologne. In 2020, he founded the trio PERCUSSION (with Roger Kintopf and Leif Berger), which will form the focus of his artistic work in the coming years. Since the ensemble’s first concert in December 2020, four albums have been released on Boomslang Records, and PERCUSSION has played at the BEZAU BEATZ Festival and numerous concerts in Germany, Austria, and Portugal, among others. In 2022, Felix Hauptmann received the Jazz Prize of the City of Cologne (Horst and Gretl Will Scholarship) and organized a concert evening as part of Cologne Jazz Week in the hall of the Stadtgarten in Cologne.
From April to June 2024, he was Artist in Residence at Villa Waldberta in Feldafing (Artist In Residence Munich), a program of the City of Munich.
